A whole new year

Well a whole new year has just begun and I think it is time for the world to come to its senses and have PEACE. Millions of innocent people have suffered because of war, I think it is time for Peace. Live and let live. I watch the news and it is very difficult to watch people's houses being bombed and people being killed. I cannot make any sense of war. I truly believe that he who makes war, should fight his own battles and not drag innocent people in to fight it for them.

Festive Season

The time has come to drag out all the Christmas decorations. It is a beautiful day today, and I am in the mood for decorating. I guess you could say, I am in the festive mood. Wash cloth in hand, I commence to wash windows and that being done, start putting up the window lights. All the outside lights have been put up, now to finish the inside lights and decorating. The tree goes up on Monday, December 1st. I am like a kid, I love Christmas with all the trimmings. The only thing that would make it perfect is to have my one and only child to spend the holidays with me, but alas, that is impossible because she lives on the other side of Canada, and the cost of such a trip would be phenominal that we could not afford, but she is in my heart as always, but more so on Christmas.

It has always been my wish to find a little child for whom I could make Christmas happy, and today I have finally heard of such a little tyke who is almost 3 whose family is probably a little down in their luck and unable to make Christmas a happy time for their little one. Although I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel a real need to do something special for a little girl or boy to make their day one that they may remember. In this case, I have received a little girls name and I am delighted. I can't wait to go shopping for her and get her a little character from The Night Garden, of which I was told was one of her favourites, and also many more gifts, including a few articles of clothing, but mostly toys. I miss so much having children around me at Christmas and this will fill half of my dreams to be able to do up a nice Christmas. I would like to buy her a doll and more plush toys. She is only 3. I would dearly love to see her face Christmas morning when she gets her toy from The Night Garden, a television show for children.

Stormy night

Wednesday, November 19, a storm blew in my little village. Heavy winds, snow and downright cold. And if that wasn't bad enough, our power went out around 6:20 pm and stayed out until almost 10:00 pm, leaving my husband, myself and my sister spending the time cranking up a wind-up flashlight for what little light we could get out of it. Hundreds of people were stranded on the highway, stuck in the snow for 12 hours trying to keep warm with whatever they had in their cars, of course, there were no houses around for miles, no passerbyes, and no police, so complaining about my little upset, makes me feel pretty follish considering what those people went through.
